Monday 30 May 2016

Chennai: Tamilnadu Congress Committee president EVKS Elangovan today announced senior member K R Ramasamy, who represents Karaikudi in the Assembly, as the Congress Legislative Party leader.
While Colachel legislator J G Prince will be vice-president, Vilavancode MLA S Vijayadharani will be the whip. Ramasamy is a veteran who was elected five consecutive times from the Tiruvidanthai constituency.
Though the Congress won eight seats in this Assembly election, it has turned out to be the third largest party and the second largest opposition. A tight race was on for the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader’s post.
It was said that Vijayadharani, Ramasamy and H Vasanth Kumar were the main contenders. Vijayadharani was the whip of the CLP in the last Assembly.
