Two top Bollywood stars have sparred over claims of "nepotism" in the industry.

Kangana Ranaut recently said that filmmaker Karan Johar was fit to play the character of a "stereotypical Bollywood biggie" in her biopic.

She described the character as being "very snooty", and a "flag bearer of nepotism and the movie mafia".

Johar responded on Saturday, saying that if she was so terrorised by the industry, she should "leave it".

The director, who was speaking at the LSE India Forum in London, added that he was "done with Kangana playing the woman and victim card".

Ranaut, who came to Bollywood from a small town in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh, has often said that some filmmakers were unwelcoming towards "outsiders" like her.

"In my biopic, if ever it's made, you'll play that stereotypical Bollywood biggie, who is like you know...very snooty and completely intolerant towards outsiders," she told Johar on his talk show last month.

The director on Monday said Ranaut's assessment was wrong.

"You [Ranaut] cannot be this victim at every given point of time who has a sad story to tell about how you've been terrorised by the bad film industry. Leave it," he told NDTV.

Bolllywood is one of the biggest movie industries in the world, but critics say that getting a break into films is extremely difficult.

Kabali audio launched: Rajini fans in celebration mode

Chennai: Though it was announced that the audio of Kabali would be out on 12 June, the makers chose to advance the same by a day. On Saturday, the first copy of the audio track was released at a private function in a theatre complex in Chennai.

Soundarya Rajinikanth, producer Kalaipuli S.Thanu, director Pa Ranjith, and music director Santhosh Narayanan and the film's unit were present at the function. 

'Rajinikanth (sir) is holidaying in the US and he won't be present in the country around the time of the launch. Hence, the makers decided to have a soft launch instead,' a source from the film's unit had said earlier.

The audio was released little later online for the public. 

Kabali stars Rajinikanth as an ageining international don. Also in the cast are Radhika Apte, Kalaiarasan, Winston Chao, Dinesh, Dhansikaa and Ritwika. The film is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu. 

No sooner the audio was launched, fans went into celebration mode and posters and banners were out at several places across Tamilnadu hailing the actor and the music composer.

On Friday, a 30-second audio clip from the movie was leaked in the social media. The clip had a compilation of a few dialogues of Rajinikanth from the film

Here is a quick review of the Kabali audio:

1) Ulagam Oruvanukka (Ananthu, Santhosh and Gana Bala) A woinderful harmony. The trio of Ananthu, Santhosh and Gana Bala rocks. Their voices blend in style. The Kabali swag and the rap verses by Roshan Jamrock elevates the song. A brisk one in typical Santosh Narayanan style.

2) Veera Thurandhara (Gana Bala, Lawrence and Pradeep Kumar) Distinctly different from regular Gana Bala songs. He adds more emotion to the lyrics rendering it in Western style. Good use of guitar and percussion instruments, the song is more peppy. The rap interlude is catchy. Back up vocals by Lawrence and Pradeep Kumar are good. 

3) Maya Nadhi (Ananthu, Pradeep Kumar & Swetha Mohan) Santosh Narayanan and his romance for guitar is well known. In Maya Nadhi, he brings a wonderful blend between guitar and strings to make it a lively number. Santosh's sweet rendition and Swetha Mohan's good support are the highligts. An unusual tune that keeps gaining strength with new sounds.

4) Vaanam Paarthen (Pradeep Kumar) A soft and a sombre number, it is a nice wedding between guitar and flute. A melodious chorus and Pradeep's soft rendition go hand-in-hand. Santosh Narayanan strikes it rich.

5) Neruppu Da (Arunraja Kamaraj) The best for the last. A super effort by Santosh Narayanan. A scorching theme song with the catchy vocals of Arunraja Kamaraj that completely rocks. Jhanu Chantar’s electric guitar and Tapass Naresh’s drums are mesmerising. A number that will be cherished and celebarted by Rajinikanth fans. And it couse comes with powerful dialogues by the actor himself in the interlude.

Dhanush's 'Thodari' Trailer: Yet Another Winner From Prabhu Solomon?

Dhanush's Thodari trailer is here. Directed by Prabhu Solomon of Mynaa and Kumki fame, it looks like the movie is a mystery-thriller with high-octane action sequences. 

The 2 minute 27 second trailer offers enough footage of the film, making the plot of Thodari, pretty much apparent.
Going by the trailer, it looks like the movie is about a train that gets hijacked by a group of terrorists. 

Since the entire movie might unfold in a running train, expect the film to house some awe-inspiring stunt sequences. 

You always expect lots of greenery and scenic beauty in a Prabhu film and Thodari might not be any different. Vetrivel Mahendran's cinematography is something to watch out for, when the movie releases.

Also, it looks like the film will be high on comedy as a couple of noteworthy comedians in Thambi Ramaiah and Karunakaran are seen in the neatly cut trailer. 

Overall, Thodari might have something for everyone, a success formula, Prabhu Solomon has been using for quite some time now.

Yesterday 'Dharmadurai' team has released the movie teaser and it is getting good response from movie critics. National award winner Seenu Ramasamy joined with Vijay sethupathi third time for this big movie after National award winning 'Thenmerku Paruvakatru' and the yet to be released 'Idam Porul Yaeval'.

The trailer for Gautham Menon’s much awaited Achcham Enbathu Madamaiyada hit YouTube on Yesterday. Simbu feels like Heartening after a long time who gives blockbuster hit 'Ithu Namma Allu'. 

Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada’s filming was completed in March this year. The film is produced by Photon Kathas, Menon’s production house and Ondraga Entertainment, the film stars Silambarasan, Manjima Mohan, Baba Sehgal, Daniel Balaji and Rana Daggubati in a cameo.

Anirudh to romance Amy Jackson in Los Angeles

Southern composer Anirudh Ravichander of "Why this kolaveri di" fame and actress Amy Jackson will soon head to the US to shoot a music video for the single "Enakenna Yaarum Illaye" from upcoming Tamil film "Aakko". "While the single was released earlier this year, the makers are now planning to shoot a music video featuring Anirudh and Amy Jackson. The video will be shot in the US most likely in August," a source from the film's unit told IANS. 

The song, which was penned by director Vignesh Shivan, was composed and crooned by Anirudh himself. 

Directed by M. Shyam Kumar, the film features Geethan Britto, Tulika Gupta and Arjunan in important roles. 

Initially, Anirudh was offered the lead role in the film, but he passed it and agreed to compose the film's music.

Youth files complaint against Tamil actor Suriya for 'assault'

However, the actor has denied attacking the youth and said he intervened because he saw them harassing an old woman.

A complaint has been filed against Tamil superstar Suriya in an alleged case of assault, where he has been accused of attacking a youth who was having an altercation with a woman.

The complainant is a first division football player named Premkumar, who claims that he and his friend were travelling on a bike, when the car in front of them stopped suddenly, which made them lose control and slam into the rear end of the car.

The driver of the car, who was a woman, came out and began scolding them for rash driving, following which some people also reportedly came in support of the youth.

Surya, who was driving by, reportedly stopped by and intervened in the altercation which further heated up the situation and resulted in the actor allegedly slapping the youth, asking why he was fighting.

The actor has however denied attacking the boys and has claimed that he saw the boys manhandling the women, which is when he tried to rescue her and intervened.

Premkumar has filed a complaint at the Shastri Nagar police station and an FIR is yet to be registered in the matter.

The actor's manager has issued a statement saying, "The two youngsters in a bike had hit an old lady near Adyar and were harassing her when Suriya passed that location. He stopped his car and intervened, questioning the two youngsters.

Suriya had immediately informed the police about this incident and then left. He had also left his assistant on the spot to assist the police. But taking advantage of Suriya's absence, the two youths filed a false complaint against Suriya."
