What is Pure Science?

Pure Science is a science that derives theories and predictions. Pure Science can also known as natural Science, basic science or fundamental science. Pure sciences deals with the study of natural phenomena through observation, experimentation and use of scientific methods.

Pure science is often conducted in a laboratory. The main objective of pure science is to increase information of a particular field of study and develop scientific theories.

Physics, Chemistry, biology and Mathematics etc are some of the major streams pursued in Pure Sciences. Pure sciences is one of the most interesting and research oriented fields.

It plays a crucial role in innovation, new discoveries and inventions. Pure science creates and establishes information to understand nature.

It describes the most basic objects, forces, relations between them and laws governing them, such that all other phenomena may be in principle derived from them following the logic of scientific reductionism Studying pure sciences requires curiosity in the different phenomena that occur in nature, creating theories and hypotheses about them, and finally testing and validating them through experimentation and logic.

Different science subjects address different aspects of natural phenomena. For example Physics deals with the study of properties of matter and its constituents in the universe, as they relate to motions, force and energy. Chemistry concerns itself with the reactions of the constituents of matter to create new forms of matter.

And Biology is the study of life forms including their structure, function, growth, evolution, distribution, and classification.

Eligibilty Criteria:

  • Basic eligibility criteria for pursuing Pure Science education is to complete a 10+2 education with subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Biology
  • Candidate should have completed 3 years graduation can pursue the post graduation course
  • For Ph.d: Student should have completed post graduation with the minimum marks in the related field

Scope and Career Prospects for Pure Science:

Pure science is promising as we need it in our day to day life. There is a lot of scope in the field of science.

Student can opt any subject in science such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics etc.

Pure science, be it natural, physical or mathematical, is the backbone for research and development.

There has been a wide opportunities offered in education and career.

Excellent undergraduate and integrated (undergraduate + masters) courses in various streams of science are offered by very prestigious and established educational institutions in India, such as IITs, NITs, BITS, IISc, IISERs, to name a few.

Graduates in pure science have multiple options. Some of them are as follows:

  • After the completion of the course one can go for higher studies
  • Since pure Science is gaining popularity educational institutions are offering placements in their institutions/universities
  • If you have inclination for research you can pursue research in the related field.
  • There is huge demand for pure science students in the west in the research arena
  • Pure Science opens up plenty of opportunities in the fields of state and central research organisation.
  • They can also work for public sector undertaking, which has huge demand in the recent years
  • One can also join public and private sectors

Dhanush's 'Thodari' Trailer: Yet Another Winner From Prabhu Solomon?

Dhanush's Thodari trailer is here. Directed by Prabhu Solomon of Mynaa and Kumki fame, it looks like the movie is a mystery-thriller with high-octane action sequences.

The 2 minute 27 second trailer offers enough footage of the film, making the plot of Thodari, pretty much apparent.
Going by the trailer, it looks like the movie is about a train that gets hijacked by a group of terrorists.

Since the entire movie might unfold in a running train, expect the film to house some awe-inspiring stunt sequences.

You always expect lots of greenery and scenic beauty in a Prabhu film and Thodari might not be any different. Vetrivel Mahendran's cinematography is something to watch out for, when the movie releases.

Also, it looks like the film will be high on comedy as a couple of noteworthy comedians in Thambi Ramaiah and Karunakaran are seen in the neatly cut trailer.

Overall, Thodari might have something for everyone, a success formula, Prabhu Solomon has been using for quite some time now.

MS Dhoni set to reach another ODI milestone in Zimbabwe

Harare, June 8: India's One Day International (ODI) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is set to reach another milestone in his glittering limited overs career.

Ind-Zim tour schedule and squad

Dhoni, who will lead a young side in 3 ODIs and 3 Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) against Zimbabwe starting on Saturday (June 11) in Harare, is set to join the 9,000-run club in the 50-over internationals format.

The 34-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman starts the series needing 82 more runs for the landmark. So far, he has accumulated 8,918 runs in 275 ODIs.

Since making his debut against Bangladesh in December 2004, Dhoni has emerged as one of the best limited overs players in the world. Dhoni is the only captain in history to have won all the 3 global trophies. He first led India to 2007 World T20 triumph and in 2011 hit the most famous six in World Cup history to seal the trophy.

In 2013, he took India to Champions Trophy glory. When Dhoni gets to the 9,000-run mark in ODIs, which is likely to happen during the Zimbabwe tour, he will become only the 5th Indian in the elite club. Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar heads the list with 18,426 runs in 463 ODIs. He is also the overall leader in the world.

Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Mohammad Azharuddin are the other three. Dhoni and his team-mates left for Harare today (June 8). At the pre-departure press conference in Mumbai yesterday, he said, "I think it will be a very different experience (for me), the reason being you keep playing with almost the same group of players, so you know the roles and responsibility.

There will be quite a few players in this bilateral series whom I will be playing with for the first time."
Indians who have scored 9,000 plus runs in ODIs

1. Sachin Tendulkar - 18,426 runs (463 matches)

2. Sourav Ganguly - 11,363 (311)

3. Rahul Dravid - 10,889 (344)
