MARKEL VISITS US: 
German chancellor Angela Merkel was on a state visit to US in March 2017.  In Washington, she met US president Donald Trump [see photo on cover] and discussed bilateral and global issues.  During their meetings German leader defended stance on refuges and globalization while US president again used the phrase ‘in first face-to-face meeting.  Both leaders struck a conciliatory tone at their first meeting, but there was little disguising their fundamental differences in policy and style.  Merkel said she was gratified that the US president pledged support for NATO and the Minsk peace process in Ukraine.  Trump insisted that he is believer in free trade.  Merkel had been accompanied to Washington by German business leaders, and trade was a clear point of potential disagreement.  Trump has previously warned German car companies he would impose a border tax of 35% on vehicles imported to the US market.  Trump told merkel he supports a strong NATO but added that her country and other European national must pay their fair share of the costs of the alliance.  Many nations owe vast sums of money from past years and it is very unfair to the United States.  Merkel said German is increasing its NATO contributions, seeking to meet the organizations goal of 2% of gross domestic product; she also said there are different assets and facets of contributing to defense security and stressed the importance of NATO missions in Afghanistan and 
eise where.

BARACK, MICHELLE OBAMMA SIGN RECCORD BOOK DEAL:  Barack and Michelle obama have signed adeal to publish their memories with New Yark-based penguin Random House, in a coveted contract reportedly worth tends of millions of dollars, obama administration is already the author of two memoirs and children’s  book.

DON GIVES CIA NOD TO CARRYOUT DRONE STRIKES:  US President Donald Trump has reportedly given CIA necessary authorization to carry out drone strikes against terror groups, a move that could have implications for Pakistan.  This is a change from the policies of the previous Obama administration, under which the department of defence was authorized to carry out such strikes and the CIA used drones to gather intelligence information.

BANS LARGE GADGETS ON FLYERS FROM 8 COUNTRIES:  The US has banned laptops, iPads, cameras and electronic goods larger than a cell phone from Bain baggage on direct flights to it originating from 20 airports in eight Muslim-majority Gulf, west Asia and North Africa nations.  The ban, which the Department of Homeland Security said was because of terror threats, the department of Homeland security said was because to terror threats, covers all direct flight to the US from Cairo, Amman, Kuwait City, Casablanca, Doha, Riyadh, Jeddah, Istanbul, Abu Bhabi and Dubai.

TRUMP PLANS MAN ON MARS BY 2023SUS President Donald Trump has signed a new bill authorizing nearly $20 billion for NASA programmers that include human exploration of the red planet.  The NASA transition Authorisation Act gives the agency $19.5 billion for 2018.  The legislation also asks it to chalk out a plan to send a crewed mission to Mars in the 2023s.

Rolls back obama’s green plans:  US present Donald Trump on March 29, signed another controversial executive order to radically change his predecessor Barack Obama’s climate policies, dealing a body blow to the international efforts to combat global warming. Trump signed the order at the envieronmental Protection Agency [EPA] keeping his campaign promise to support the coal industry.  The order will eliminate federal overreach and start a new era of production and jonb creation.  The order represents a clear difference between how Trump and former President Obama view the role the US plays in combating climate change, and dramatically alters the government’s approach to rising sea levels and temperatures.
